My Philosophy
My personal philosophy of life is that while at times many people experience difficulties, such challenges afford them opportunities for considerable personal growth. I believe that human beings are inherently good and very resilient. I also believe that they are adaptable and can change if they choose to do so. While some areas of one’s life may not be ideal, I believe that with the guidance of a professional helper, one can better handle conflict and learn to cope at an optimal level. Additionally, I believe that being successful in one’s life may be more about the lens you look through than what is actually there, and that the function and outcome of treatment can be a “joint venture.” The therapist and the client both contribute to treatment failure or treatment success. I believe that by working within a warm, non-judgmental environment, one may increase their ability to move through difficult times and ultimately realize personal growth.
My Background
Tracy is a master’s degree practicum student from Argosy University’s Sarasota
Campus, where she is studying to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Before deciding to
pursue her goal of being a therapist, Tracy was a small business owner for ten years in the
decorative artistry field. Prior to that, she was a home health counselor in the Tampa Bay
area and rural Florida. In this role she gained significant experience working with a geriatric
client base dealing with issues of grief, role reversal, loss of independence, change
of body image and psychological adjustment that accompanies aging and physical illness.
Tracy also worked as a biofeedback therapist, which involved teaching relaxation techniques
to promote client health. A native Floridian, she was born in Dunedin and grew up in
New Port Richey, where she attended Gulf High School. She graduated from University of South Florida
in 1992 with a BA degree in psychology. Concurrent with her master’s degree program,
she serves as Secretary of the Alpha Epsilon Sigma Chapter of the Chi Sigma Iota Counseling
Academic and Professional Honor Society International.
Clients
As a future Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Tracy wants to work with diverse clientele to help them achieve and maintain optimal mental health and wellness.
