Philosophy:
Background: Before obtaining my Master’s Degree, I taught early elementary school, adult education and was an investigator for childrens’ protective services. After receiving my Master’s Degree, I worked for the next three years in Florida mental health centers as an adult therapist, and was one of the first clinical social workers in that setting to specialize in geriatric mental health.
I received my Clinical Social Work degree from Florida State University in 1978.
In 1981, I opened my private practice (which was to eventually become Lifespan Services, Inc.). I provided social work consulting services for over 25 years to physical rehabilitation clinics, hospitals, senior citizen residences, and long term care facilities. In partnership with Bonnie Martin, I provided trained social workers and social work assistants for home health care, and established one of the earliest eldercare case management firms in the state.
I most recently worked with an organization that provides behavioral counseling at military installations for members of our Armed Forces and their families.
Clients: I provide counseling and psychotherapy to adults, eighteen years of age and older (there is no upper age limit). I work with both individuals and couples. I use a multidisciplinary approach to therapy, with a concentration on communication and family dynamics.
